From June 16 to July 10, 2026, in the garden of the Castello dell'Acciaiolo in Scandicci, Firenze. Nutida – Nuovə Danzatorə is a dance festival held in the Municipality of Scandicci, created specifically for the Pomario, the garden of the medieval Acciaiolo Castle.
In 2026, Stazione Utopia once again presents a dance festival inspired by the relationship between the venue and its community, with the aim of supporting new generations of dancers and welcoming site-specific performances conceived or reimagined in a stripped-back, essential form: in a garden, outdoors, in the summertime, at sunset.
*Nutida is a Swedish word meaning “contemporary,” and within it are embedded: NU for “new,” UT for “utopia,” and DA for “dance.

Stazione Utopia presents Calimala Evolution | Disclosure Platform, following the excellent results of the first edition of Calimala | Disclosure Platform: an evolution of the format, which received numerous applications from four continents.
For the 2026 edition, the aim was to select 3 young choreographer-performers under 25 with experience in choreographic creation. The artists/performers worked on an original 15-minute score composed, recorded, and produced specifically for the project by DOMBRE.
The committee reflects the project’s evolving spirit, in line with the development of Calimala Evolution | Disclosure Platform:
Sveva Berti - Artistic supervision of the Calimala Evolution project, Director of the Aterballetto company
Jennifer Lavinia Rosati - Choreographer and director of The Gate Florence Urban Dance School
Philippe Kratz - Freelance choreographer
Marco Betti - TSU dance organization and production
DOMBRE - musician and composer active on the national and international scene
Aldo Nolli - Artistic production, Stazione Utopia/Nutida Festival
The selected artists took part in a working session at CCN/Aterballetto in Reggio Emilia, a moment of exchange and feedback with the committee prior to the final presentation at Nutida Festival.
Selected works:
Sul-levare by Simone Cristofori
Ashes by Francesco Paolino
What if fallen leaves by Francesca Gianelli

Two evenings dedicated to the audience, with their direct involvement in the creation of a dance performance: an instant workshop. This practice draws on the tradition of social dance as a popular, collective event. Unlike dance halls or nightclubs, NED aims to offer an immersive experience and, for this reason, it will take place at the end of the guest companies’ performances.

A single body moves through intimate and primordial territories, in search of a rhythm that emerges from within. Solitude becomes fertile ground for discovering new strengths, between fragility and resistance. Instinct guides a journey that is both memory and future, root and momentum. Each gesture arises as the trace of a personal ritual, at once delicate and wild. What emerges is an essential journey, where the body becomes a community of impulses and visions.
